Iowa City Documentary Festival An annual festival committed to exploring and expanding the boundaries of documentary by showcasing independent, high-quality short (under 30 minutes) nonfiction film and video.

 

Iowa City Microcinema An organization run by University of Iowa graduate students and Iowa City filmmakers dedicated to promoting the instruction, production, and screening of independently produced, adventurous, and thoughtful short films in an effort to build and fortify an inclusive community of active filmgoers and filmmakers.

Austin Film Society Year-round exhibition includes more than 100 screenings of rarely seen films. Support for artists includes grants through the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund, advice, referral, workshops and fiscal sponsorship. AFS also trains interns and helps them find work on films, and publishes Persistence of Vision, the quarterly journal of the Austin film community.

 

Flicker Austin is a quarterly film screening series in Austin, TX that features short films by area filmmakers and all other enthusiasts who dare submit via mail! Submissions are free, screenings are always only $5.

 

Motion Media Arts Center educates and entertains the public through the creation and presentation of film, video, and digital arts. Motion produces film and other media arts classes for adults and teens, such community programming as screenings, exhibitions, panels, and symposia, a Media Resource Center for students and visitors, and equipment and software for juried projects. Bearded Child Film Festival This festival looks for ÒWeird/obscure/crazy pieces and personal or experimental films. They have little interest in traditional talking-head narratives, unless you do something different with the genre. Basically, they want films that are either fun to watch, or extremely innovative in form or content.

 

Dallas Video Festival For the past eighteen years the Dallas Video Festival has worked tirelessly in its pursuit of electronic media that showcase the fresh perspectives and original voices that often struggle to find a place in contemporary cinema.

 

Ms. Films Based in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC area Ms. Films promotes the work of women in film by providing filmmakers a venue to showcase their work and by hosting workshops, visiting artists, panels and more.
